COBA to Attend “Pathways to Excellence” College Fair and Networking Event February 2026

On Saturday, February 7, 2026, youth athletes from Charter Oak Boxing Academy (COBA) in collaboration with ETEC will attend the Pathways to Excellence College Fair and Networking Event at the Connecticut Science Center in Hartford. This powerful event brings together education, leadership, and opportunity, creating meaningful pathways for young people to explore their futures beyond the ring and classroom.

Pathways to Excellence is designed to expose students to higher education options, career pathways, and professional networks that may otherwise feel out of reach. With representation from HBCUs, community colleges, state colleges, and local organizations, the event offers students a firsthand look at what is possible when preparation meets opportunity.

COBA and ETEC are proud to attend with their boxing youth, reinforcing the message that discipline, focus, and perseverance apply far beyond athletics. Boxing teaches resilience, accountability, and confidence. Events like this help students translate those lessons into academic and career success.

Event Features

The event will feature college information sessions, panel discussions, prizes, and a fireside chat with keynote speakers, including Sonserae Cicero, CEO of SHEBA, and Makola M. Abdullah, President of Virginia State University. These leaders represent excellence, service, and access, values that align closely with the missions of COBA and ETEC.

For many of the youth attending, this experience is about more than college brochures or networking. It is about seeing themselves in spaces of possibility. It is about understanding that their stories, talents, and work ethic matter.

Commitment to Youth

COBA and ETEC remain committed to developing the whole student athlete. Education, exposure, and empowerment are core pillars of that work. Participation in Pathways to Excellence is another step in ensuring young people are not only champions in the ring, but leaders in life.
