COBA and CICD Unite for Community Giving During Annual Turkey Distribution Event

On Saturday, November 22, 2025, Charter Oak Boxing Academy proudly partnered once again with the Connecticut Institute for Community Development Puerto Rican Parade Committee for a meaningful day of service and community giving at the COBA facility.

From 8:00 AM to 3:00 PM, COBA boxers, parents, siblings, and volunteers came together to support the annual turkey giveaway, reinforcing the academy’s commitment to service, unity, and giving back. Families across the community were welcomed as volunteers helped distribute turkeys, provide refreshments, and create a warm and supportive environment for all in attendance.

COBA encouraged full family participation, emphasizing that service is a shared responsibility and a core value of the organization. Volunteers who committed at least four hours of service were recognized with COBA hoodies as a token of appreciation for their time and dedication. Families who registered in advance also had the opportunity to receive a turkey for their household.

Food and refreshments were available throughout the day, creating a welcoming atmosphere that reflected the spirit of togetherness and generosity. The event was not only about providing meals but also about strengthening community bonds and instilling values of compassion and civic responsibility in COBA youth.

Commitment to Community

The partnership with CICD highlighted the importance of collaboration between community organizations. Founded in 1958, CICD has long been dedicated to social engagement, cultural enrichment, and community building, and is widely recognized for organizing Connecticut’s annual Puerto Rican Day Parade. Its continued commitment to uplifting families aligns closely with COBA’s mission to develop strong individuals both inside and outside the ring.

For COBA, this event served as a powerful reminder that success is measured not only by athletic achievement but also by service to others. The day truly embodied the message shared with participants and families alike: for the kids and for the community.
