COBA Attends a Saturday with Trinity College and Trinfo

On Saturday, September 6, 2025, Charter Oak Boxing Academy, in collaboration with Elite Tertiary Education Consulting, brought COBA students to Trinity College for an educational visit focused on college exposure, community engagement, and digital access. The visit introduced students to Trinity’s campus and the impactful work of Trinfo, a longstanding neighborhood resource located in Hartford.

Event Details

During the visit, students toured the Trinity College campus and learned about Trinfo’s mission as a community centered space that connects Hartford residents with Trinity students, faculty, and resources. COBA students explored the Trinfo facility at 1300 Broad Street, gaining insight into how the program provides access to technology, document services, tech support, and community programming designed to bridge gaps in access and opportunity.

A highlight of the experience was time spent in the Trinfo Community Garden. Students learned how the garden brings together Hartford and Trinity community members while supporting urban farming, fresh food access, and relationship building. The garden also serves as a hands on learning space that reflects Trinfo’s commitment to collaboration, sustainability, and community care.

Trinfo was founded in 1999 to address the digital divide by expanding access to the internet and technology skills for Hartford residents. Over the years, the program has evolved to meet changing community needs, transitioning into a help desk model and expanding its role as a neighborhood gathering space that promotes college access, career readiness, and social services.

Commitment to Youth

COBA’s visit coincided with Trinfo’s reopening celebration and 25 year milestone, marking a renewed chapter in Trinity College’s commitment to community engagement. Students were able to see firsthand how higher education institutions can partner with surrounding communities in meaningful and lasting ways.

For COBA students, the experience reinforced the importance of education, access, and community connection. The visit allowed students to envision themselves on a college campus while learning how programs like Trinfo support both academic and community success.
